Foco tem o prazer de propor, em sua quinta participa\u00e7\u00e3o, um di\u00e1logo entre quatro artistas representados pela galeria: Maria Appleton, Manuel Tainha, Francisco Tr\u00eapa e M\u00e1rcio Vilela. Cada um traz uma perspectiva e uma metodologia distintas, mas seus trabalhos ressoam de maneiras sutis, gerando uma reflex\u00e3o sobre materialidade, percep\u00e7\u00e3o e natureza.<\/p>\n

Em lados opostos do estande, as obras de Appleton e Tainha parecem se encarar. Ambos utilizam t\u00eaxteis, mas de formas radicalmente diferentes. A pr\u00e1tica de Appleton explora as interse\u00e7\u00f5es entre cor, forma e percep\u00e7\u00e3o espacial por meio de tingimento, tecelagem e serigrafia. Ela investiga a subjetividade embutida nos sistemas urbanos e a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre as estruturas t\u00eaxteis e a luz, criando frequentemente composi\u00e7\u00f5es crom\u00e1ticas em camadas sobre algod\u00e3o, seda e tecidos industriais. As obras apresentadas em Madri fazem parte de sua exposi\u00e7\u00e3o What Holds the Structure<\/em>. O t\u00edtulo tanto questiona quanto afirma que, por tr\u00e1s de todas as coisas (mesmo por tr\u00e1s da pr\u00f3pria estrutura), h\u00e1 algo que sustenta a realidade em um equil\u00edbrio ca\u00f3tico: algo dif\u00edcil de compreender, mas tang\u00edvel ao toque.<\/p>\n

Em contraste, Manuel Tainha examina as pr\u00f3prias condi\u00e7\u00f5es da composi\u00e7\u00e3o, explorando adi\u00e7\u00e3o e subtra\u00e7\u00e3o, bem como a tens\u00e3o entre superf\u00edcie e objeto. Seu trabalho est\u00e1 enraizado no significado cultural dos materiais, nos limites da restri\u00e7\u00e3o e na viol\u00eancia impl\u00edcita na cria\u00e7\u00e3o. Temas de domesticidade tamb\u00e9m emergem, situando sua pr\u00e1tica em um espa\u00e7o onde mat\u00e9ria e gesto negociam continuamente entre si.<\/p>\n

O estande tamb\u00e9m aborda a quest\u00e3o da natureza, por meio das obras de Francisco Tr\u00eapa e M\u00e1rcio Vilela. Tr\u00eapa, que recentemente inaugurou uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o individual no CAM Gulbenkian, desenvolve uma pr\u00e1tica definida por uma rela\u00e7\u00e3o inquieta com a mat\u00e9ria. Elementos pl\u00e1sticos e imaginativos geram universos em constante metamorfose, oferecendo reflex\u00f5es sobre paisagens, sonhos e a instabilidade do material. Atrav\u00e9s do que poderia ser descrito como uma est\u00e9tica barroca de fic\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica, ele funde sensibilidades ornamentadas com pensamento especulativo, questionando binarismos entre natureza e artif\u00edcio, ordem e caos, perman\u00eancia e dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Vilela, por outro lado, aborda a natureza como encontro. Sua s\u00e9rie fotogr\u00e1fica Superflora<\/em>, produzida nas florestas ao redor do Recife, documenta um dos \u00faltimos remanescentes da Mata Atl\u00e2ntica. A s\u00e9rie fala sobre descobertas feitas ao caminhar pela floresta, sobre nichos que aparecem e desaparecem com a luz teatral e cambiante. Para o artista, os pr\u00f3prios objetos revelam sua presen\u00e7a, concedendo permiss\u00e3o para serem fotografados.
