\nConvido-vos a arranjarem o cabelo e a sacudirem-no da roupa; acabaram de entrar num lugar que e\u0301 um espelho. Tudo o que podera\u0303o, ou na\u0303o, ver neste lugar e\u0301 o espelho inaliena\u0301vel de si pro\u0301prio. Estes objectos que se encontram neste lugar (e e\u0301 um lugar porque de facto lhe pertence uma histo\u0301ria, um sentimento e mu\u0301ltiplas narrativas e que, apesar de ser de passagem, e\u0301 sobretudo de viragem) sa\u0303o signos absolutos de e para quem os ve\u0302, e podera\u0303o leva-lo a uma prazerosa, ou horrorosa, compreensa\u0303o do que e\u0301, ou na\u0303o e\u0301, enquanto pessoa que existe no mundo.<\/p>\n

\nEste lugar assim se torna porque ha\u0301 na poe\u0301tica do seu autor- artista Hugo Cantegrel uma cisa\u0303o entre o momento de criac\u0327a\u0303o e o momento de exposic\u0327a\u0303o, o que se revela nestes objectos como uma assimilac\u0327a\u0303o do que e\u0301 sensi\u0301vel, a intuic\u0327a\u0303o, e do que e\u0301 pensa\u0301vel e articula\u0301vel, o que o leva a ver estes objectos como mo\u0301dulos de significac\u0327a\u0303o e a exposic\u0327a\u0303o como um lugar de coincide\u0302ncia entre va\u0301rias realidades – inclusive a realidade da ficc\u0327a\u0303o.<\/p>\n

Cantegrel repensa os objectos assim que estes lhe saem do corpo e se tornam exteriores a si e, como num jogo – e do que deste a vida carrega – , estabelece as regras que permitem a sua leitura. A junc\u0327a\u0303o, reunia\u0303o ou ajuntamento de uns com outros permite-lhe ser a pessoa que conjuga signos e si\u0301mbolos e formas mas abre tambe\u0301m espac\u0327o para que quem vem e ve\u0302, sem os ter ja\u0301 feito, se posicione no mesmo lugar de autoridade perante estes. Ao ni\u0301vel da narrativa da exposic\u0327a\u0303o – o que ela diz – somos todos co-autores, espelhamo-nos todos na superfi\u0301cie cera\u0302mica, no brilho do neon, no olhos la\u0302nguidos desta mulher.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

[Quais?] Que estamos todos a\u0300 espera, que pensamos todos na morte, no desconhecido, no obscuro, nos outros, na infa\u0302ncia, e se misturam todas as camadas de significac\u0327a\u0303o ate\u0301 que a soberba de tudo faz verter umas la\u0301grimas. A origem? Debaixo de uma tartaruga, outra tartaruga<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nHugo Cantegrel apresenta a exposic\u0327a\u0303o JUST BEFORE WE BEGIN, mas e\u0301 de bom tom notar que, mesmo antes de termos comec\u0327ado – e tambe\u0301m o Hugo, e tambe\u0301m esta exposic\u0327a\u0303o – ja\u0301 tudo havia comec\u0327ado. E, tambe\u0301m que so\u0301 muito depois de ter comec\u0327ado, arriscou ser, ja\u0301 depois da sua execuc\u0327a\u0303o. Mesmo antes de este texto comec\u0327ar, este texto havia ja\u0301 comec\u0327ado. E\u0301 assim mesmo que se comec\u0327a, comec\u0327ando antes de se comec\u0327ar. Dar o primeiro passo e\u0301 antes de mais aprender a dar o primeiro passo, por isso, desconhece-se a origem do primeiro avanc\u0327o. Fiadeiro fala do tempo real como aquele que vai do momento em que se e\u0301 afectado a\u0300quele em que nos relacionamos de forma na\u0303o-passiva com esse afecto, por vezes apenas um mile\u0301simo de segundo. O diferencial necessa\u0301rio para que tempo seja simultaneamente uma norma colectiva mas uma experie\u0302ncia absolutamente individual (novamente assemelho esta imagem ao modo ou ao como desta exposic\u0327a\u0303o).
\nCantegrel deste momento mesmo antes de comec\u0327armos, evocando um ambiente corporativo, diz- nos que se cria um particular espac\u0327o tempo quando algue\u0301m diz \u201cantes de comec\u0327armos queria so\u0301…\u201d, um espac\u0327o-tempo assente na espera, na suspensa\u0303o. E onde esta exposic\u0327a\u0303o, lugar e espelho, se alicerc\u0327a.<\/p>\n

E\u0301 de forma na\u0303o contradito\u0301ria que as pec\u0327as que da\u0303o peso a esta exposic\u0327a\u0303o, os mono\u0301litos cinzentos que encaramos ao entrar, sa\u0303o as mesmas que a fazem levitar, ou ascender. Em Unidentified ufo, uma escultura de vulto redondo que assimila pote\u0302ncias narrativas variadas, ha\u0301 duas leituras muito fortes; a do mono\u0301lito visto por quem acede a esta exposic\u0327a\u0303o e a da imagem de quem retorna a\u0300 sua vida, numa viragem para a sai\u0301da desta exposic\u0327a\u0303o. Estes blocos verticais e verticalizantes, evocam o ce\u0301u e o desconhecido, celebrando-os de uma forma que evoca sempre a ascensa\u0303o. E\u0301 curioso tambe\u0301m que evoquem em mim outras obras estas duas meta\u0301foras de visibilidade; a do ce\u0301u que desce o olhar e a do olhar que sobe ao ce\u0301u. Uma pec\u0327a de Alexandre Estrela, onde este toma um campo de mono\u0301litos como uma partitura a ser lida – a uma escala astral? – e as melhores de trinta e seis tentativas de John Baldessari para conseguir um quadrado com quatro laranjas a ser lanc\u0327adas no ar. Tambe\u0301m estas quatro laranjas, consideradas de um a\u0302ngulo na\u0303o suficientemente esclarecido poderiam ser lidas como um UFO ou OVNI, algo visto no ce\u0301u e incompreendido ou inexplica\u0301vel de determinada perspectiva. Esta evocac\u0327a\u0303o, evidente no meu espelho, do artista do miste\u0301rio e da ficc\u0327a\u0303o cienti\u0301fica, e do artista do humor concreto seja esclarecedora quanto a\u0300 acumulac\u0327a\u0303o narrativa e associativa da exposic\u0327a\u0303o de Cantegrel.<\/p>\n

Mas tambe\u0301m o bug desta exposic\u0327a\u0303o, 404 (an error occurred), a pec\u0327a, confessa Cantegrel, que e\u0301 verdadeiramente pessoal, a que na\u0303o evoca si\u0301mbolos, mas que se da\u0301 a\u0300 possibilidade de os criar, de nos dar a ver a desconstruc\u0327a\u0303o das formas por onde fomos passando ate\u0301 aqui chegar, e que nos modelam o imagina\u0301rio; a abstracc\u0327a\u0303o que faz eco. O que ecoa? Tantos sons como os que trazemos.<\/p>\n
