Conceptualmente, a pesquisa de Crespo e\u0301 formada por mitos locais, heranc\u0327a popular e abordagem colonial da histo\u0301ria, materializando-se esteticamente atrave\u0301s de uma variac\u0327a\u0303o de gestos de arquivo, escultura e instalac\u0327a\u0303o.<\/p>\n

Para esta exposic\u0327a\u0303o Crespo desenvolveu um novo corpo de trabalho, onde corporeidade e leveza coexistem no espac\u0327o fi\u0301sico da galeria, transformado numa justaposic\u0327a\u0303o de refere\u0302ncias a e diferentes temporalidades e medias, criando um cena\u0301rio po\u0301s-antropoce\u0302ntrico habitado por vesti\u0301gios humanos, maioritariamente residuais.<\/p>\n

A exposic\u0327a\u0303o estuda as teorias de Paulo Virno no seu livro “De\u0301ja\u0300 Vu e o fim da histo\u0301ria<\/em>“, onde o autor expo\u0303e este feno\u0301meno psicolo\u0301gico como uma oportunidade de expandir a memoria e a conscie\u0302ncia histo\u0301rica. Dentro deste para\u0302metro, a lo\u0301gica da temporalidade tende a omitir a releva\u0302ncia do presente, interpretando-o como uma qualidade da linguagem que esta intimamente ligada com o passado. Assim, o passado tem inerente e escondido o potencial do futuro \u2013 futurologia \u2013 consumando a crise da compreensa\u0303o linear.<\/p>\n

Neste clima anacro\u0301nico, as pec\u0327as principais Cement ruins (2017) e Sand (2017) aludem a anedota de John Smith, um engenheiro e almirante do Impe\u0301rio Brita\u0302nico empenhado na produc\u0327a\u0303o de um novo cimento no Belize em 1820. Apo\u0301s usar areia local como madeira, os diferentes testes e tentativas desenvolvidos ao longo de um ano foram infruti\u0301feros. O solo da regia\u0303o era inadequado a este tipo de composto e, consequentemente, o cimento produzido era de qualidade baixa, inadequado para construc\u0327a\u0303o. O cimento foi enta\u0303o importado, drenando o orc\u0327amento imperial alocado a\u0300 regia\u0303o e afectando o desenvolvimento dos planos para as I\u0301ndias Ocidentais.<\/p>\n

Esta falha forc\u0327ada pela natureza manifesta-se em outros segmentos da exposic\u0327a\u0303o. Rainforest (2017) refere problemas de aclimatizac\u0327a\u0303o e adaptac\u0327a\u0303o, uma vez que as plantas que compo\u0303em a pec\u0327a ira\u0303o progressivamente morrer, acompanhando a duracao da exposic\u0327a\u0303o. Periapt (2017) utilisa a sua materialidade para evocar conotac\u0327o\u0303es na\u0303o cientificas ou conhecimento natural experiente.
