The series entitled « VESSELS or the reclamation of useless » reassembles anthropomorphic pieces, produced between 2018 and 2019. Initially inspired by the morphology of amphoras with some typological characteristics such as rim, neck, shoulder or foot.
VESSELS stand as a sculptural ensemble. The choice of stoneware casts a lithic appearance to the pieces, revealing their own nature rather then a utility, one should impose. Hence there’s no artifice, no use of glazing, and little intervention.
VESSELS is a theater of geometric and muted shapes, coexisting in an horizontal background. They draw a landscape of expectation. They bear certain stigmas of manufacture, assembly and repetition. They ultimately take the shape of a forgettable function.
VESSELS abandons its content and thus its function as containers; an organic, soft and colored material spreads along the way. The object is no longer there to “do” but to «re / present».
