Light Box | With Aires de Gameiro & Paulo Arraiano

Sixth session: Views.
We invited Aires de Gameiro and Paulo Arraiano to present their works around the concept of “views”.
The curators identifies a common aesthetic field in a possibility to destabilize the point of view of the spectator, opening for several plans and perspectives. Through optical systems and traditional materials both the artists reflects about the perception of the space in relation to the artwork.

Aires de Gameiro (1989, Lisbon) studied Painting at the Fine Arts School in Lisbon and at the Accadamia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy. Among his recent exhibitions: “The Theory of Clouds” at Spazio Buonasera (Turin), “Splash” at The Switch Gallery (Lisbon), “SWABArt Fair” with Las Palmas (Barcelona), “Kinema” solo show at Las Palmas (Lisbon) and “Nome do Meio” at Moradia (Algés). He is one of the co-founder of the artist-run space Las Palmas.

Paulo Arraiano (1977, Portugal) is a visual artist based in Lisbon. He has participated in several exhibitions, both solo and collective including Hawaii-Lisbon (Lisbon), Dimora Artica (Milan), Pivô (S.Paulo), Art Rotterdam (Rotterdam), Aeroplastics Contemporary (Brussels), among others. He is represented in both public and private collections such as CAC Málaga Museum (Spain), Luciano Benton Collection (Italy) and Quartier General Arts Center (Switzerland). Paulo Arraiano has a degree in Communication by ISCEM (Lisbon), and studied Visual Arts at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual (Lisbon). He is also co-founder of re_act contemporary, art laboratory and residence program based in the Azores Islands and no.stereo, an independent Artist-run platform.
