Light Box | with Diogo Da Cruz

First Session:
The aim of this project is to stimulate and increase the discourse about young art, media interactions and diverse aspects related to contemporary arts practices. The first session of Light Box will be dedicated to Diogo Da Cruz. Through a performative show of his works, we will discuss Diogo Da Cruz’s aesthetic process and artistic view while deepening in a possible political and philosophical perspective. Diogo da Cruz (1992) is a conceptual artist based in Lisbon. He received a BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fines Arts of Lisbon (2012) and a Diploma in Free Kunst from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (2016), where he studied with the professor Hermann Pitz, and guest professors Ceal Floyer, Andrea Fraser and Tyler Coburn. He participated in the Independent Study Programme at Maumaus – Escola de Artes Visuais in Lisbon (2016). His work has been exhibited in Portugal, Germany, Austria, Spain, Greece, Sweden, Bulgaria and Scotland.

Da Luz Collective is a collective of curators, working with young artists who are using light as a medium and/or a result – videos, photography, light installations, etc. The collective aims to show, enhance and illustrate new artworks in a perspective of “vision” and “visual” criticism. Da Luz Collective is composed by Filippo De Tomasi, Kasia Sobczak – Wróblewska and Orsola Vannocci Bonsi.

The purpose of Light Box arises from the need of reflection about young artists based in Portugal, who are using light as a medium and/or a result – videos, photography, light installations, etc. We aim to realise a program of presentations, divided by themes, in order to show the works of, and talk with, the invited artists. With Light Box, we wish to stimulate and increase the discourse about young art, media interactions and some aspects related to contemporary arts practices.
